Dear Nangi,

I'm a doctor by profession. My 3 year old daughter loves your books so much that she would not let me read any other book. Even though she can't read, she can recognize your name on the book. "Andanne Ay Sudu Amma" is her favorite. I started collecting your books when I was expecting her. Now I have over 60 books. (My sister sends them) All my nieces and nephews are crazy over you and your stories. Even we as adults like to read your stories very much. You have a great sense of kids and their pattern of thinking. I especially appreciate the moral values in them put in a very subtle, amusing way. I wonder how you understand kids so well.

You are really an angel!!

Wish you all the best.

Dr. Ashanthi Ranawaka, California, USA.

Dear Ms. Sooriyarachchi,

I've read lots of your books to my grand daughter and she likes them very much. I've read about you on papers and seen you on TV when I was in Sri Lanka. But I never knew that you've put your books online for "free reading". I appreciate your kindness and generosity. But as the other well wisher parent had mentioned bellow I would like to tell you, please do not put them for FREE. They are your "hard work". No one else would put their books for free reading. Not even multi millionair authors. So please remove these books from the net. Instead you can give them for FREE to those poor children in rural areas than to the rich people on the net.

Please remove all the books from the website.

Wish you all the best and courage.... We are very proud of you.

You are the angel of our kids.

Dear Janaki Nangi,

I don't have enough words to express my gratitude and to explain how wonderfully and smoothly you guide the children with a very sweet simple story and how effective they are. I have read more than 90 of your books (My mother couriers them) Almost all are equally beautiful. Some of them are really unbelievably wonderful. Nicer than the nicest stories I've read in my small days. Even we as adults enjoy them very much.

And I've heard that you are a very sweet and humble girl. I wish you all the happiness in your personal life (to have a nice handsome husband who would give you a helping hand and a bunch of kids) May all your dreams come true.

Dear Author,

Please don't put these books for "free" reading. These are your hard work and your interlectual property. So it's not fare to read them for "free". Those who want to read them, will buy. So please remove your e-kathandara page. If some one wants to buy your books let them buy. Don't give anything for "free" unless you give them to "poor". (I've heard that you give books to children in rural under developed schools. Its' alright. But I haven't seen any one else do that.) So please think of yourself first and then give away. You have a long way to go... Im sure you will become a great author oneday. Then you'll be able to give for free. Until then delete that page.

A well wisher father, Pannipitiya, Sri Lanka.

My dearest chutti nendi,

Dear Author,

It is highly appreciated that you have done a great job for the children in Sri Lanka and it is well known that, Janaki Sooriyarachchi's books have been prescribed as study references in no of language classes and in schools as well. I am sending this note with reference to the classification of the books. You have varied the complexity of the story and the depth of the pictures in your creations so that they would be suitable for students in several ages. But, when considering the font size of some books which seem to be suitable for students in Grade-1, is too small. Even though they love to know the story, we have to read for them. So, what I wish to suggest is, 1). Classify the books according to the psychological strategies behind the story and grade them so that the parents can select the suitable books efficiently. 2). Select the pictures and standard font sizes with reference to the grades for future printings. Your books are the BEST in Sri Lanka today. We wish you all the success in your future endeavours.

Best Regards,Samintha Narangoda, BSc Rathnagiri, Hakahinna, Kegalle.

I am a Nritya Visharad in BharataNatyam from "Bharatiya SAngeet Samiti" Mumbai. I am preparing for my "Aarangetram". I saw your bharathanatyam pictures. You look very very beautiful in your arangethram. You remind me of Indian actress Jeya Bahduri in her young days. I wish you were born in India.

Dear Author,

Recently I came cross your web site in an article about you in Sunday Observer. I'm really inspired about your talents & creativity. Which touched me most are the words you quoted in the Sunday Observer as your main objective now is "to inspire children to be sensitive to the needs of the others. To teach them compassion so that they would one day become better husbands, wives and parents". I think it's an absolute necessity in our society today. There are very few people left in our world who are really genuinely concerned about children and their world. Nowadays children are misrouted & misled. So I think a person like you can do a lot for them to make them better citizens of the country. Wish you all the very best for your future endeavours in your profession & in personal life.

Hello Janu,

Your address janu@tikiri.com doesn't work now it seems. Something wrong. so I'm writing here. You have a great little admirer in the Red Sea town of Elat. The 5 year old Rona likes very much your works but, as her mother wrote, she prefers “real” books with pictures. So, in addition to your site address I sent her the books bought from your online bookstore about two years ago and already published on my site, together with a print-out of the Hebrew version. But apparently it wasn’t enough and they ordered from you another batch. Their problem was only, that some of the books were not yet translated and the mother asked for my help. I began now to translate (not much work) and I will return the books shortly to Rona in Elat. However when the translation is done, can you give me permission to put the stories on my site as earlier, for the enjoyment of other children in Israel. I will greatly appreciate this and other surfers on my site certainly too. Thanks in advance.

Dear Janaki,

I am Himali, a mother of 1 year old boy. We live in Japan. My little one Thavisha loves books. He has many English and Japanese books but only few Sinhala books. Last time WHEN I visited SriLanka, i bought some of your books, maddu, binkA and so on but it seems those books are too big for a 1 year old.(I enjoyed reading them very much though)I really want to bring him up trilingually so looking for suitable sinhala books for 1 year olds. Do you have any books for babies? I am looking for picture books with a small story. I am so sorry to bother you with my unique request. Keep on writing good stories. I am looking forward to reading your books to my son when he is ready for long stories.

Dear Janaki,

I am writing this  to really appreciate your attempt in providing better quality story books for kids. your series of story books are good in quality, content, colors and in every way. And specially each story conveys a good message to children. I am really happy to buy them for my kid she is just five years old. Actually the kids are very keen on the content of books. It is very difficult to win their world but you have already won it. She is asking for another set of your story books for her as she loves them very much. So, I think you will write many story books in future and contribute more to Sri Lanka. Thank you very much for all the works done so far and wish you great success.

Dear Janaki,

I am a mother of 6 year old kid. My son started listening to your books when he was 3 years and when we are in Sri Lanka. Now he can read your English books alone. Still he likes your books very myuch and we are referring those in the internet. I have no words to appreciate your talent of writing wonderful books for kids. Actually the kids get addicted to your books. Thank you very much for giving us a web site so we can read books even in Australia.

I am a father of a little girl of 3 years and recently I happened to buy few of your books, Kerakena Gedera, Hora Kitiya & Baka Baka Naide. They are wonderful and what I could not believe is that you have done all of the work, writing, artwork, computer graphics, typing..etc. Also I guess you are a young girl(from your 'Isthuthiya' in the books) Still I can't believe that one person can excell in all (I may hardly believe coz I am a Chartered Engineer, not an artist.), its really wonderful and  wish you all the best for your future. Im sure you'd bring fame to our country someday.

Keep up good work and Kind regards

Dear Author,

I love your books very very much, they are so lovely, colorful and so much fun to read for my daughter Amina. She is about 3 years old. We are from Mongolia and it is very hard to find good books that suits her age and I'm so glad that I found your book on the internet. Since, my daughter doesn’t speak English yet, I do tell the stories in Mongolian (translate into Mongolian). We can’t find your books anywhere in the stores here. My daughter specially loves your book very much and I am sure there are many other Mongolian kids her age and younger, may be, would love to read your books. Here I am wondering if you would like to publish these books in Mongolia in our language.

Thank you and with respects,

Dolzodmaa Purevjav, Mongolia.

Hi Ms. Janaki,

I'm really very happy to see your site and I'm writing this to you to say thank you for all your kindness and generosity. I've been reading your books for few years. And  I should say, that I love all your books. I used to read Russian stories and Sybil Aunty's books. And I started reading your books in 2005. Actually I saw you in the BMICH book fair once, but didnt know that she was 'you'. It is really a very good thing this web site as there's no way to buy your books in this country. (at the moment I am not in SL). And most surprisingly u have provided PDFs for anyone to read for free. That's very nice of you..... You have a great talent in making any one a "kid". Keep up your wonderful creativity, and wish you all the very best. Thanks and best wishes

Dear Janaki Nangi,

It was a surprise for me to see you in Swarnavahini and was listening to you from half and hours time which was very interesting and only finally i got to know that you are "THE Janaki Sooriyaarachhchi" who is the favorite author of my daughter.

YOUR BOOKS ARE really EXCELLENT. My daughter is three and half years old and when i read story books to her, she wants to see each and every thing in pictured. You have done a great job in that case where none of the others could do. And also your stories are perfect for the little ones and you are just like a mind reader of little children. You seem to have a very good sense about children.

When you were sharing your views with Swarnavahini, i realized that you are not only a author  but a very good child psychologist as well. [no matter whether you've got a paper qualification or nor].

Great job ...... keep up the good work .....

My best wishes for you ... and my appreciation for your family who made you such a worthy person ....like  Janaki Sooriyaarachchi...

God Bless you !!

Dear Little Author,

I have been to your site many times and have always found this to be very very interesting. I am from Ukraine and learning to speak English, give true I wrote the following sentence: "Your eyes see things in different ways and you create fantastic stories."

But I wonder how you give them freely like this? Don't do that. You worked hard to write these books. Others just read them. Pls. think about it. You are too nice.

With great respect to little author...

Dear Janaki Sooriyarachchi

Im Wang Lvqing from Qingdao, China. I have read your children book Finbo and I found it is very interesting. And then search your name via Google and find your website. When I view your website, I was stunned. Such a sweet little girl done so much of books for children. And they seem to be very very interesting and colorful and ideal for children. Im sure you will be a very famous writer some day like hans christian anderson, JK rowling, etc. But Im not flattering your books are even better than them and more innocent literature.

These books should be made available to all the children in the world. So if these can be translated into all the languages in the world would be great. If you are introduced to children in China they be mad over you...Your illustrations are also very beautiful.

Dear Author,

I read about the children's story section and it is really very beautiful. I'm amazed and very proud of you at the same time. When it was mentioned that you have spent your childhood doing different things and those experiences itself can be a very good story if you write.

I am sure you know the value of giving some knowledge and education to younger generation. These books give them the power of imagination, visualisation that can lead to so many good things in their lives. Imagination is very important and your books give this power of imagination that can lead to inventions. Well done, keep up the good work.Have you any idea about writing it?

Best regards,

Dear Author,

I am a professor in Language and Communication in a provincial university in Japan. The island I live in is called Okinawa. Yesterday I attended a Children's Culture Forum held at my university. The guest speakers talked about their enthusiam and efforts to develop children's literature and reading habits in this small island. I talked about how I was brought up in a environment without any children's book except textbooks and how I became interested in Children's books.
Then today I read an article in daily news article and visited this website to find that SL has wonderful persons like you dedicated to develop this field. I would like to introduce your website and activities to Japanese people. Wish you all the best,

Dear Ms. Sooriyarachchi,

I'm really surprised and overjoyed to see a Sri Lankan doing such great work for the universal children. Most of these books are nicer than most of the books we see in these bookshops in these developed countries.

Well done, young lady!! Keep up the good work and bring fame to Sri Lanka.
